March 7th we had the movers bring all the big furniture, and that would be the first night we’d sleep in our new home…definitely a bit odd, but good, too. The kids did sleep well that night and were quite excited.

After finishing the kids rooms, we finally painted the guest room. Though difficult to tell here, it did turn out to be a soothing and sunny pale yellow. By the time we tackled this room, we were tired, frustrated with painting, and ready to just move into the house. Still, by the time we started setting up the guest space, it looked nice and cozy. Now for that lighting fixture!

Before we officially moved in, I prepped the kids rooms: cleaned them, placed their personalized wooden name signs on their doors–thanks again, Grandpa!–and tried to place at least one personal item in their rooms, to make them feel more like it was their new home, rather than just the new house, as we’d been calling it.

Al’s floors fared pretty well after the carpet removal and initial clean-up. Note his ceiing fixture, which was replaced once we completed the priming/painting of his ceiling. Classy, eh?
